Preparing for Enforcement: USP <800> Readiness Checklist

Date: 5/22/2019

Time: 12:00 p.m. CST - 1:00 p.m. CST

It’s been two years since the final version of USP Chapter <800> Hazardous Drugs - Handling in the Healthcare setting recommendation was published.   The official enforceable date – December 1, 2019 – for USP Chapter <800>- Hazardous Drugs—Handling in Healthcare Settings is fast approaching.

Are you ready? Handling of hazardous drugs (HDs) poses an exposure risk to every healthcare provider who encounters these medications.   That’s why a robust hazardous drug safety program requires multiple strategies. What’s your hospital’s plan for  proper work practices related to material handling, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), use of containment primary and secondary engineering controls (C-PECs and C-SECs), and considerations for the use of supplemental engineering controls, commonly known as closed-system drug transfer devices (CSTDs)?

At the conclusion of this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Explain the key elements of compliance with USP Chapter <800> and the resources to achieve that compliance.
  • Describe the role and responsibilities of the designated person, as described in the chapter.
  • Develop a strategy to conduct an Assessment of Risk for those drugs listed on Table 2 and 3 of the NIOSH List.
