Compounding with Hazardous Drugs

Proposed USP Chapter 800 sets a standard for handling hazardous drugs in healthcare settings. These drugs are not just limited to injectable oncology agents. They include oral, topical, inhalation, and injectable agents that are carcinogenic, teratogenic, cause reproductive toxicity in humans, cause organ toxicity at low doses in humans or animals, or are genotoxic.

Proposed Chapter 800 deals with methods to contain contamination from these agents, so is intended to promote safety among healthcare personnel in addition to the patient safety standards included in USP 795 and USP 797.

In this webinar, Patricia Kienle, RPh, MPA, FASHP reviews:

  • The key areas included in proposed Chapter 800
